Fall came but I am still waiting for summer. I want to hear this splash. One of us jumping in the river first thing in the morning. And then all of us again before lunch, after we’ve run around town in the sun. And one last time before dark.
That’s a day living by a river in Connecticut. Our hair is always a little wet.
The trees make this particular shade of green that pulls you up into the air even though, yes, it’s scary every single time your feet leave the dock. Then splash. The water is alive.
